Uist Wool is a woollen spinning mill & shop on the island of Grimsay, North Uist, part of the Outer Hebrides - an island archipelago off the North West coast of Scotland. They spin knitting and weaving yarns from local Scottish wool, blending dark and light fibres to create beautifully unique tonal shades and effects without dyes.

Wool is sourced locally, selected with care and processed at the Mill with a high degree of quality control at every stage of production.

Uist Wool is a new venture inspired by co-operative values. The original idea to build a new Mill in North Uist emerged from a collective will to find a fresh purpose for local fleece that would reconnect the community with their cultural heritage of wool-working and provide an economic source for the community of the Outer Hebrides.

Uist Wool also provides creative education, training and outreach as part of the public programming at the Mill & Wool Centre. Interpretation of cultural traditions in wool-work and sharing knowledge between generations is at the core of their community outreach.
