Border Blend is Fine Fettle Fibres’ latest venture into yarn production. After the success of my Northumbrian Rose yarn over the past couple of years, I fancied trying something a little different with the gorgeous local alpaca fleeces I am lucky enough to be able to work with.

Together with the team at The Border Mill, we have created a limited edition blend of 70% Northumbrian alpaca from the prize-winning herd at Old Felton Alpacas, with 30% Northumbrian Bluefaced Leicester. The fleeces have been dyed in eight rich shades at the mill and then spun into a heavy 4ply / sport weight yarn.

Gauge: 24 stitches x 36 rows in 10x10cm in stocking stitch on 3.5mm needles
Composition: 70% Northumbrian Alpaca, 30% Northumbrian Bluefaced Leicester.

Care: Hand wash in lukewarm water. Dry flat out of direct sunlight.
