Icelandic Mittens

Icelandic Mittens

£40.00

Guðrún Hannele Henttinen is a textile teacher, the owner of Storkurinn yarn shop in Reykjavík, and the author of this new book about Icelandic mittens.

The Textile Museum in Blönduós in northern Iceland houses a unique and fascinating collection of hand knitted Icelandic mittens, dating back centuries. Guðrun has reconstructed patterns and charts based on those historical examples, and created 25 mitten and glove patterns, in a variety of colours and styles, so that they can be made and enjoyed by modern knitters.

The book also contains a master class in multi-colour stranded knitting and in a wide range of stitches and techniques as well as full-colour photographs and step-by-step instructions to aid both novice and veteran mitten-knitters.
