De Rerum Natura Pénélope DK
Pénélope is a DK, worsted spun yarn made from the precious fleece of Merinos d'Arles sheep, raised on an organic farm near Aureille in Provence (France), with a touch of silk (south of Shanghai, China).
The silk gives this fine (21.5 microns) and exceptionally elastic wool a discreetly satiny sheen and a very nice drape.
These very fine fibres are combed into a ribbon to increase their softness and strength, and then spun in the Biella region of Italy, as no spinning mill in France today is capable of spinning such fine combed yarn. This single strand is then twisted to create a four strand yarn, dyed in Creuse (France).
